Vin Brulè – Mulled Wine

Vin brulè is a very tasty, hot, and aromatic drink prepared with red wine.

  • 250 ml red wine 8.4 oz
  • 5 orange peels
  • 1 slice of orange
  • 2 lemon peels
  • ¼ tsp grated nutmeg
  • 2 cloves
  • 1- star anise
  • ½ stick of cinnamon
  • 50 g sugar 4 tbsp


  • Cut the orange and lemon peel (without including the white part which would give the drink a bitter taste),
  • In a saucepan pours the sugar, then add the citrus peel, the spices, and finally the red wine.
  • Heat over low heat and bring to a boil, stirring with a wooden spoon, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Cook over low heat for another 5 minutes.
  • Strain the mulled wine through a dense mesh strainer and serve hot.
